Transfer with an English-speaking driver from Livingstone Airport to the hotel close to the Zambian side of Victoria Falls.
Join us on a lazy, leisurely sunset cruise aboard one of the finest boats on the Zambezi, the African Queen. We’ll top up your drinks as the sun sinks over the water, and you’ll be increasingly mesmerised by the exquisite views of the wild African bush. Nothing like it. We float past the Mosi oa Tunya National Park, and you’re very likely to spot crocodiles, hippos, astonishing birdlife, perhaps elephants and whatever else comes down to the riverbank to drink. It’s always a surprise, always a great sense of anticipation. And as the sun sinks lower, A selection of local drinks and tasty snacks is served on board. There’s wine too, for your own account.
After breakfast, you will be taken on a guided Tour of the Falls.
We visit the Falls from the Zambian side, and when it’s in full flow, you’ll experience the showers from the crushing Falls below. Raincoats needed! Please Note: The Falls on the Zambian side may dry out seasonally (Sep-Dec).
Later you will get to experience The Victoria Falls by Helicopter.
Your flight path takes you over the seemingly tranquil Zambezi River, and on a journey of discovery along the gorges which zigzag their way to the infamous Batoka Gorge downstream. It’s a unique perspective on the Falls and gives you the perfect overview of the size and magnitude of this astounding Natural Wonder of the World.
After breakfast, you will be taken on a guide tour to a local village.
Visit this village of approximately 4,000 people, with two leaders, Elizabeth Inonge and Fredrick Mukubesa, both of whom report to Chief Sekute in the Kazungula area. The village was established as a home for the first railway station workers in the area. This is where the steam train used to refill with water on its way to Mulobezi to collect timber. It is also the site of the first Coillard Church in Zambia, established by a French missionary named Francis Coillard in 1911. The village has a school that is now mostly supported by visitors from lodges located in the area.
Transfer with an English-speaking driver from a hotel in Zambia over the border to Chobe Game Lodge, in Botswana. This will be your home for the next two nights.
Chobe Game Lodge is within the game-rich Chobe National Park and overlooks the Chobe River and Caprivi floodplains, it is the location of safari dreams. It is also the only permanent safari lodge in the park. You are spoilt for choice when it comes to game viewing in this wild part of Africa and the prized Big Five take centre stage. The lodge features a large swimming pool, library, gym and beauty salon as well as the stylish Thwene cigar bar, with a billiards table. Meals are served on the restaurant terrace and after dinner, you can head to the stargazing deck.
