Depart from Windhoek via the towns of Okahandja and Outjo towards the Etosha National Park. At Outjo you may choose to stop at the Outjo Bakery to try out their delectable offering of pies that they are famous for. Arrival at your Lodge will be in the early afternoon and you may choose to enter the park this afternoon or instead have a relaxed afternoon and only do so the following day.
The entire day will be spent in the Etosha National Park, exploring the waterholes along this enormous saltpan, in your own vehicle. Enjoy a lunch stop at one of the rest camps (lunch for own account). There are close to 114 species of mammal in Etosha, including the black-faced impala and the threatened black and white rhino. The Etosha Pan (a flat calcrete depression), contains water only after very good rains and sometimes only for a few days each year, but is enough to stimulate the growth of a blue-green algae which lures thousands of flamingos.
Enjoy another full day exploring this world-famous National Park, in your own vehicle. Today you will make your way through the park, entering from the south and heading east where you will exit the park at the Von Lindequest gate. Throughout the day you will visit various waterholes in search of wildlife. Arrival at the lodge for the night will be in the late afternoon and the remainder of the evening will be at leisure.
After breakfast, travel south towards Otjiwarongo. En route, you may wish to stop at Lako Otjikoto, one of the most interesting lakes in the country. The lake is known for the German Schutztruppe having dumped their remaining artillery into the lake after the war. You then continue via Okahandja back towards the capital city, Windhoek where this tour ends upon arrival.
