Day One - Departing Windhoek

Depart Windhoek and drive via Rehoboth into Kalahari Desert for overnight.

Day One

A scenic drive will be undertaken towards sunset (in open vehicles).  Dinner  included.

Day Two

Drive through Kalahari and visit the Quiver tree forest near Keetmanshoop. Lunch in Keetmanshoop (for own account) and from there continue to Naute Dam for a quick stop. Stretch your legs on an easy walk to a nearby mountain and enjoy a complimentary drink as you watch the sun go down Breakfast & Dinner included.

Day Three

After breakfast, travel to the Hobas Campsite, an entrance to the Fish River Canyon to view the Canyons’ most spectacular northern fringes. Continue to Aus and stop for lunch (for own account). See desert adapted horses on entering Namib Desert. Enjoy spectacular scenery of the Aus Mountains on an unguided walk. Scenic sun downer drive included in the afternoon (for own account). Breakfast & Dinner included.

Day Four

Optional excursion to Kolmanskop possible – enquire with your guide regarding the rate (min 4 guests). See the ever-changing vistas of the desert landscapes when driving along the most beautiful district road in Namibia, the D707 (road conditions permitting). Visit Duwiseb Castle before arriving at the Lodge in the late afternoon. Breakfast & Dinner included.

Day Five

Early start to visit Sossusvlei where we will undertake a 4x4 vehicle drive into the heart of the Namib Desert. Climb into the gorge of Sesriem Canyon before you travel past the impressive Namib Naukluft Mountains to your Lodge.  Breakfast & Dinner included.

Day Six

Drive through Kuiseb Canyon and continue towards Walvis Bay at the coast. Lunch in Walvis Bay (for own account). Visit Walvis Bay Lagoon to view seabirds. Travel to Swakopmund. Enjoy a complimentary sun downer at the Moon Landscape Breakfast & Dinner included.

Day Seven

Explore lovely Swakopmund (unguided) in the morning. After an early lunch (for own account), continue inland towards the towns of Usakos and Karibib. A short visit to a craft market in Okahandja is made. Tour ends on arrival in Windhoek during the late afternoon. Alternatively stay two additional nights in Swakopmund and join the Northern Namibia & Etosha Tour. Breakfast included.

Situated 6 kilometres outside of the small, remote Kalahari town of Gochas, Auob Lodge is set on the banks of the dry Auob River in 8000 hectares of the semi-desert where various antelope, smaller mammals and birds can be seen.  The comfortable rooms have private bathrooms and air-conditioning.  The lodge has a restaurant, a bar, a lapa for outdoor dining and a TV lounge.  Guests can enjoy relaxing around the swimming pool set in a green garden.


Day Two

Caňon Roadhouse

20 kilometres before the main viewpoint of the Fish River Canyon, you’ll find the Caňon Roadhouse, a characterful, comfortable and caring establishment with a charming cult-car theme. The individually-decorated en-suite rooms are gathered around an inner courtyard, creating an ambiance of tranquil homeliness. The theme à la Carte restaurant and bar are innovatively decorated with old car parts found in the area, and this unusual creativity seems to inspire a fantastic atmosphere for the sharing and telling of traveller’s yarns. A large terrace accommodates summer-night dining under a dazzling array of stars. The large swimming pool and sun deck surrounded by indigenous succulent gardens offers welcome relaxation and respite from the desert heat.


Day Three

Located in the remote Aus Mountains you are treated to grand vistas of mountain scenery and sweeping desert plains. Relax with sundowners on the deck before enjoying a meal in the restaurant, followed by a nightcap at the evocative Wild Horse Bar or around the cosy fireplace in the lounge.

Halfway between the Namib Desert seaside towns of Lüderitz and Swakopmund, the Hammerstein Lodge & Rest Camp nestles between the scenic Nubib and Tsaris Mountains.  Accommodation is in comfortable en suite rooms and the lodge offers dining, a bar and relaxation around a sparkling swimming pool.
