More property updates we have received recently.
The Cape Town Carnival (Cape Town, South Africa) is due to take place on 18 March 2017 in the Cape Town city centre. Certain road closures may be introduced.
Update: The building of the house in front of Ellerman House (Cape Town, South Africa) is going ahead very quickly and is currently on roof level, with noise level medium to high. Completion is scheduled for September 2017.
Reminder: Please be aware that the Waterfront Company is currently busy with construction around the City Lodge Waterfront (Cape Town, South Africa), which will take place until the end of 2017.
Summerwood Guesthouse (Stellenbosch, South Africa) will be closed for renovations from 13 May 2017 to 15 August 2017.
The Hector Pieterson Museum (Soweto, South Africa) is currently closed until further notice for roof renovations.
Nut Grove Manor (White River, South Africa) is currently adding 4 more rooms which are due to be completed in May 2017.
Please take note of the following road transfers and gate times at Nkomazi Game Reserve (Mpumalanga, South Africa):
- Arriving guests will be picked up from the welcoming lounge at 14h30
- Departing guests will depart the lodge at 10h00 to arrive back at the welcoming lounge at 10h20
Construction of 22 additional guest bedrooms, 2 suites and a new pool will begin at Ghost Mountain Inn (Mkuze, South Africa) in February 2017 and is due to be concluded in November 2017. The building work will take place in an entirely new area of the property and should not affect the current hotel operations.
General andBeyond Child Policy Update: Children of all ages may participate in a game drive if a private vehicle has been booked. Access to sightings will be at the discretion of the guide, based on the behaviour of both the child and the wildlife. Greater distances to animals may be adhered to, or certain sightings may be avoided, in order to ensure the safety of guests. In the case of boating activities, the availability of boats may restrict private use and require forward planning.
Phinda Homestead (andBeyond Phinda Private Game Reserve, South Africa) is currently closed following a fire that took place at the lodge on Friday 16 December 2016. The property is due to re-open in November 2017.
andBeyond Phinda Rock Lodge (andBeyond Phinda Private Game Reserve, South Africa) will be closed from 01 February 2017 to 30 April 2017, for an extensive refurbishment of its suites and guest areas.
As of 01 January 2017, a landing fee per person applies for all charter flights landing on the Phinda Airstrip at andBeyond Phinda Private Game Reserve (South Africa). The landing fee does not apply to any scheduled flights.
Airlink (South Africa) has extended its lodge link network and will provide connections between andBeyond Ngala Safari Lodge and andBeyond Ngala Tented Camp in the Timbavati, andBeyond Kirkman’s Kamp in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, and andBeyond Phinda Private Game Reserve. The Fly Me to Phinda Offer now includes return flights from Skukuza Airport as well as from OR Tambo International Airport. As of 02 June 2017, guests can also connect Phinda with Ngala, Cape Town, Livingstone and Vilanculos at a supplement.
Victoria Falls Safari Lodge (Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe) will be closed from 01 to 15 June 2017 to complete a major rethatching project on its central building, which houses the reception, guest services, MaKuwa-Kuwa Restaurant, the Buffalo Bar and the activities desk. The pool and pool deck will also be affected by the rethatching project. All of the other properties and facilities on the resort will remain open for business as usual, including Victoria Falls Safari Club, Victoria Falls Safari Suites, Lokuthula Lodges and The Boma – Dinner & Drum Show.
The refurbishment of the guest areas of andBeyond Nxabega Okavango Tented Camp (Okavango Delta, Botswana) has commenced, with an expected completion date of 15 April 2017.
Update: Due to low water levels, mokoro activities from Xigera Camp (Okavango Delta, Botswana) now depart from a different mokoro station an hour’s drive from camp.
Update: Due to low water levels, boating from Jao Camp (Okavango Delta, Botswana) is now from the back-of-house jetty at camp and guests are driven about 30 minutes to the mokoro station.
Flamingo Bay Water Lodge (Inhambane, Mozambique) is currently being rebuilt and will only re-open in the second half of 2017.
